Join our Executive Leadership Team

Quilpie Shire Council is looking for a full-time Manager of Economic Development based in Quilpie, QLD.

As the Manager of Economic Development, you'll be a key player in our Executive Leadership Team, shaping the future of Quilpie Shire Council and our community.

This role reports directly to the CEO, tasked with driving economic growth and business enhancement. It fosters community and regional development through strategic initiatives and partnerships.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Actively identifying, developing, and implementing economic development initiatives
• Managing and implementing the Quilpie Shire Economic Development Strategy
• Leading projects that promote tourism, economic development, and employment creation
• Developing regionally aligned economic development strategies and plans
• Providing support to the business community to become more competitive
• Undertaking marketing analysis and developing new products and services
• Managing economic development campaigns and analyzing their effectiveness
• Engaging in effective communication, organisation, and administration for economic development activities

About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a related role in government, regional organisations, private businesses, or similar. Proficiency in computer operation skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to acquire proficiency in Council business systems, is essential. Additionally, possession or ability to obtain, a current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence, is required.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

• Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
• Ability to prepare grant applications
• Demonstrated a high level of stakeholder cooperation, influence, and customer service for staff, community, and volunteers
• Experience in the review and implementation of strategic plans
• Ability to work unsupervised, be well organised, and meet demanding deadlines
